Organised by HKEX, the Stock Connect Awards reward major brokerages for their achievements in the city’s landmark stock trading linkages with the Shanghai and Shenzhen stock exchanges. An award ceremony was held at the newly-unveiled HKEX Connect Hall, celebrating the success of the Stock Connect programmes that enable investors in Mainland China and Hong Kong’s stock markets to trade hundreds of securities in each other’s markets through an exchange platform. In 2017, the trading volumes in both Shanghai and Shenzhen Connect surged, with total northbound turnover nearly trebling to RMB2,266 billion, while southbound turnover rose 170 percent to HKD$2,259 billion.
